These energy balls are so simple to make and a healthy alternative to the usual sugar laden sweets and snacks available at this time of year. So what better way to make these in a big batch and enjoy for your family and friends over the festive season and also to wrap up and give as gifts.
Makes approx. 18 (depending on size)
1 cup walnuts
1 cup almonds
1 cup pitted dates
Juice from 1/2 orange (and zest)
1/2 cup dried cranberries (without added sugar)
Pinch of sea salt
Pinch of cinnamon
- In a food processor grind the walnuts and almonds to small chunky bits
- Add the dates, dried cranberries, sea salt and cinnamon until they all grind down and start to come together
- Slowly add the orange juice until the mixture comes together into a ball
- Empty the contents in a bowl and start to make your ‘balls’. I advise using gloves as these help to give a better shape to the ‘balls’ without sticking to your hands
These will keep in the fridge for 1 month.
